Bocce Ball

For those of you not acquainted with the fine art of "bocce" you are missing it out. My family plays it quite a bit so last year we introduced it to Mark's side of the family and it became an instant hit. We were eager for the nice weather so that we could break out the set we bought for Mark's dad last year for fathers day. Just for the record Mark and I kicked butt one game and dominated. (I won't include the results from the other games)
Unfortunately I was so eager to play some bocce that I didn't care to put shoes on. What was a cold turned into pneumonia. I'm not really sure it was pneumonia but the thing is both my dad and my sister got pneumonia and I'm positive that I have been every bit as sick (if not more sick) than they have--I think that I coughed up a lung this past week-- and seeing as I never went into the doctor, just called him and he said "sounds like it's a bad case of bronchitis" and called me in the same prescription that they have, I will go ahead and say I had pneumonia.
30 weeks! I decided to include this picture because it shows Conner how much I love him. Some day he will see this picture and say "mom, you were huge!" and I will say "yes I was son, I did it because I love you!" And I will have no problem with him telling me how huge I was because at that point I will be very skinny and stylish :) Actually I probably shouldn't say skinny because the other day on a show they got mad at moms who mentioned skinny and fat. They said you should use words like "fit" and "healthy" so I will rephrase and say I will be fit and stylish!

My brother-in-law, John, and his fiance, Rika. I'm super excited that they are getting married and I'm excited to have Rika as a sister-in-law (especially because this brings another volleyball player into the family). What I'm not so excited about is the fact that they get married 2 weeks before I'm due. John says that it would be cool if I winter into labor during the wedding.....I don't know about that. I'm going to try and stay out of as many pictures as possible.
The bocce playas!

29 weeks!

29 weeks!!! I wish I could say 39 weeks because that would mean that I was almost done and this was as big as I was going to get but sadly, that's not the case. I see myself in this picture and wonder how can I get any bigger?? I always had hopes that because I'm so tall I would be one of the "lucky ones" that doesn't hardly show at all, but since I struck out in that ball game my new hope is that I'll be one of the "lucky ones" that loses weight quickly because of nursing :)

Interesting effects of pregnancy:

On the first day of my third trimester I celebrated by throwing up. Mark took a picture of me laying on the ground in misery with the bowl by my head but I thought I'd spare you all. This, of course, isn't a new development more a continuation.

Before pregnancy I was a pee 2-3 times-a-day kind of girl. Now, I don't even think I could count how many times I go and it's really started getting to me. (It doesn't help that at the place I work the women's bathroom is on the first floor and I'm on the second floor so every time I need to go to the bathroom I have to walk a flight of stairs)
Well, the other day I was getting ready for school and had to pee for the 3rd time that morning. I thought I'd teach my bladder a lesson by not giving in every time the urge presented itself; I also reasoned that if I held it, my bladder would get stretched out and be able to hold more for the future. So I ran out of the house and started driving to BYU, about 5 min out I got that tickle that means a sneeze is coming on. And before I could prepare myself I had the most gargatuan sneeze of all time AND...I peed my pants. Yep, just like a 2 year-old-girl I peed my pants. Of course I stopped it after the first gush and didn't let my bladder empty completely but that first gush was enough to make me turn around and go home to change my clothes. Needless to say I was late for class.

Teach me how to Jimmer

First off, I am a horrible blogger. For now I will blame it on the whole pregnancy part because I've gotten to the point that I don't like pictures being taken of myself and I'm STILL sick. While SOME of the nauseousness has gone away (I'm just over 27 weeks) it has been replaced with acid reflux, migraines, leg cramps, and horrible hip pain. I'm just not good at being pregnant. I'm going to have a lot better game plan next time around!
I see babies everywhere! You know how you buy a car and then suddenly you see that car every where you look? Well that's how it is with pregnancy and babies. I can't focus at church because I'm looking and the babies and their mothers.
OK pregnancy info obviously has nothing to do with the title of my post I just thought I'd add a little bit before starting into it.

I love BYU basketball. It has been such a fun part of our life the past few months. It's fun to be represented by such an incredible team. I told Mark I wanted to name the baby Jimmer. He didn't go for it and we've since decided on Conner but I'm still hoping for the middle name...Conner Jimmer Warr (maybe the double "er" ending is too much??). We've gone to 3 games: SDSU, UNLV, and Wyoming. These pictures are from the Wyoming game. It was cool they had the whole student section do a flash dance during a time out for the Sr. night so look up "BYU Flashmob" on youtube. The whole "Jimmer" maddess has also been fun. I have friends all over the country that write me and tell me how big of fans they are. I have high hopes for the March Madness run (even with Davies gone).
This picture was taken after they won the game and were cutting down the nets as conference champions.

Just testing my pictures zoom capabilities. Jimmer's shooting a freethrow. His percentage is outrageous it's in the 90's.

Rika (Johns girflfriend), John, Mark. I cut myself out of the picture because I look far to swollen. 2 hours pregame crammed on a hard small bench then 2 hours of standing during the game left me looking very overheated and swollen.

Baby Bump 22 weeks

I decided to put up pictures of my pregnancy process. It's exciting now that I'm really starting to feel the growth and changes. I was playing basketball with Mark after his church game and I went out to shoot a 3 pointer and I realized I couldn't do it, I didn't have the stomach strength to get it there because my stomach muscles are being ripped apart right now(at least that's what it feels like!)to make room for the baby to grow. (I might add that the church game held true to its reputation as 2 guys got technicals and the refs had to jump in).
I'm glad that I am starting to show now because that chubby looking stage was just awkward-I think the pictures show me a little more pregnant than I really am but I don't mind-in fact, I'd much prefer showing a little more to a little less because for a while there people would see me and the look on their face said "Shanna you really need to give up the twinkies".

This is a little more than 22 weeks.

The next stage in life

It's more than time that I make this post about our soon-to-be little boy. It's crazy for me to think that I will soon have a little boy and I will be a mother. It seems like ever since I was a little girl I have always looked forward to the next big "event" and it wasn't that long ago that the event I was looking forward to was entering in YW's, playing on a Varsity team, getting my first kiss, going to prom, driving, graduating, playing in college, and then getting married. There were times when I thought I'd never be able to move onto the next "step" but life always had a way of working itself out and here I am on the eve of the biggest step that I feel exists and I couldn't be more thrilled/nervous. I feel like everytime I start getting anxious about such an incredible responsibility I feel him kick and I am overcome by love for this little guy.

Here is what's been going on...
I know we all have trials of different sorts and being really sick during pregnancy is one of mine. Feeling like I have the flu for 5 straight months (and counting) won't be one of my fondest memories. I don't think there is a place or situation where I haven't thrown up: testing center, in my car, on myself, in class, at church, work, home, restaurant etc. I'm sure I will laugh at these stories later. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who in the midst of the Jr. Core accounting school has helped me through it all.

I made it through my 2nd to last semester of school with 15 credits and working. I have no idea how I did it and still got good grades. I think that maybe my running out of class with a garbage can made my teachers feel sorry for me.

We learned we were having a boy on December 16th when I was 16 weeks pregnant. When I saw his little thing I was in shock (I thought it was a girl) and I asked the doctor and he said "look at that thing THAT does not lie!" I was happy when I heard that his legs measured a week ahead of the rest of his body.

I am now in my last semester of college and it is such a good feeling to have the end in sight. This semester has been so much easier than last because I only have 9 credits and they are at a good time of the day. I have also been blessed to work at a place that will work with me and allow me to stay home when I'm too sick to get out of bed.

I am going on 22 weeks of being pregnant and I feel like in the last two weeks I have popped and am starting to show. It's a crazy roller coaster but we are so excited for Conner(that's the name we chose) to come.

Here are a few pictures
Look he's already got a muscle!

definitely well endowed :)

The semester's coming to a close

The thought that this semester is almost over brings welcome, might I add needed, feelings to my heart--feelings like peace, relief, and joy! It does help that this is the Christmas season and "the most wonderful time of the year." I don't know who is more elated, me or Mark. We had been warned beforehand that accounting school is consuming but there really are no words to describe how crazy it has been. You would think that the big texting days are over now that we're married and the dating life is more than behind us but I hear his phone going off multiple times in the middle of the night from people in his little assigned group asking questions or collaborating for a project. I told his group that they are more of a wife to him than I am because I never get to see him! It's a good thing that his toughest year in accounting happens to fall during my last year in college because I don't notice it as much because of how busy I am. ONE MORE SEMESTER AND I'M DONE.

I finally got most of the christmas stuff up and here's how it looks.

My mother-in-law got me this nativity and I love it! It is by far the prettiest nativity set I've seen.

I love decorating Christmas trees! If I could I would change my tree and theme every year!

Harry Potter Halloween

Those who know me know I LOVE HARRY POTTER! In one of my classes we were discussing why some people are able to enjoy books and movies and why others can't...it all has to do with your ability to suppress reality and limitations. If you find yourself saying quite frequently during movies or books, "there's no way that can happen" then you my friend have a problem suppressing reality. I, on the other hand, have the complete opposite problem, I am unable to bring myself back to reality after experiencing a particularly good book or movie. Usually the spell that the most recent story has on me will wear off little-by-little after a few weeks, but the wizarding world of Harry Potter has never worn off; I am convinced that somehow my owl got lost on its way to bring me my acceptance letter to Hogwarts. It has been my dream to dress as Harry Potter and Hermione for Halloween since I read the first book AND IT FINALLY CAME TRUE! I lucked out to marry someone who resembles Harry Potter(though a much hotter version), and we were able to impress everyone at the party we went to. I love Halloween--really I love any holiday that gives me an opportunity to get a break from the everyday goings of life. The best part about these costumes is that we will be wearing them for the 7th movie part 1 that comes out November 19!
